Defining Camaraderie: LMMC Team Building

Camaraderie is a word that we don’t often hear in the hallways of the hospital. 

In the healthcare setting, both Frontliners and Backend Staff work in sync with the hospital’s bustling hallways. People are busy providing quality and innovative healthcare, always hanging in the thin threads of life, leaving no room to define. 

But behind the tired feet of nurses and stiffened backs of admin staff, in the green corner of each room, there lies the undefined term that will stitch LMMC employees together, making a strong tapestry of unity and teamwork.

At last, Lipa Medix Medical Center finally defined its meaning. 

 

Trip Down Memory Lane

Lipa Medix Medical Center (LMMC)  scribbled its first definition of camaraderie when the hospital had a Team Building in 2013. 

Taking reference from The Pulse, LMMC’s Official Newsletter, the institution had a 2-day Team Building held at La Leona Resort at Barangay Sampaguita, Lipa City, May 17 and 24, 2013. Spearheaded by the LMMC’s Human Resource Department, the main goal of this activity was to promote unity, friendship, and togetherness among the employees. The Team Building consisted of different fun games, nurturing employees’ sense of leadership, coordination, talents, and strengths. 

Through the cooperation and unity of LMMC Employees, the hospital successfully defined the true meaning of camaraderie. LMMC continues to characterize the sense of solidarity as the hospital constantly organizes Team Building annually, creating an institutional tradition of unity. 

 

What’s In It For Employees?

The 2025 Team Building of Lipa Medix Medical Center stays true to its core — strengthening camaraderie and unity among its people. But what sets this year apart?

According to Angel Queen R. Landicho, HR Officer and Deputy MR, this year’s activity aims to foster closer relationships and teamwork across departments, provide a venue for employees to relax and recharge, and encourage active participation through fun and engaging challenges. It also seeks to reinforce trust, communication, and shared goals, while promoting a sense of belongingness and a true “one family” culture within the organization.

Landicho also shared that LMMC Team Building became a bridge between long-tenured and newly hired employees, creating moments of connection and collaboration beyond the walls of the hospital. Through meaningful activities and shared experiences, the event not only strengthened relationships but also rekindled the spirit of unity and collective purpose that continues to define Lipa Medix Medical Center.

 

Build Skills, Build Teams 

With enormous trees and aesthetic greenery, the venue is the perfect match for this year’s Team Building themed “Adventure Awaits: Build Skills, Build Team”. With wide lawns and serene swimming pools, LMMC Employees showed overflowing enthusiasm in participating in the event.

The Team Building is composed of different challenging games that will make you run, shout, swim, laugh, and roll. Filled with thrill, each station has its own difficulty, embodying the realness of an adventure. Some of the most challenging games are: Water Sequence, Blow the Ball, Octopus Race, and Tower of Triumph.

Landicho also said that while the games and challenges provide a sense of adventure and enjoyment for employees, they also serve as meaningful experiences that help enhance individual and group skills, such as communication, leadership, cooperation, and problem solving.

 

Prepping For The Adventure

Before lighting up the torch and sounding the trumpets, the Team Building Committee ensured that the event would have a smooth sail.

A Committee Team composed of responsible and creative individuals was created to organize and prepare the Team Building. Before the two batches, the Committee had a brainstorming session to plan the activities and games to be included, as well as to choose the venue for the event. 

After finalizing the plans, the Committee prepared and purchased the needed materials for the activities. Prior to the event day, they visited the venue to set up and test the activities that would also be done by the employees during the Team Building.

 

On Set 

As early as a bird, LMMC Employees flocked to the assigned venue, eager to spread their wings in taking on the challenges of Team Building. 

Free breakfast was served hot to both batches while everyone designed their own camps and banners. Each team showcased their creativity and wit using colored papers, markers, and creative cutouts. With their bright and beaming colors, LMMC Employees set foot in taking on the challenges. 

The first part of the Team Building was the station games, where teams competed to accomplish all the stations. With boasting pride and determination, each color showed its strength through different strategies — indeed, a triumphant sight.

Following the nail-biting race, a breathtaking Relay Game took place. Each color gave their all, darting across the dirt and grass, making an electrified and exciting atmosphere as time ticked behind like a bomb.

The game wouldn’t be a game if we didn’t herald the winners of this year’s season. Batch 1 Team Blue and Batch 2 Team Brown were crowned victors for this year’s Team Building. 

 

Hearing from the Employees

After the two-day fun-filled team building, LMMC employees made sure that they brought something inside their bags. 

In an interview, Edlyn H. Natividad (Accounts Receivable Clerk) said that this team building allowed her to be more patient with the customers that she encountered in her workplace. She also said that she learned how to practice teamwork and value the spirit of camaraderie. 

Meanwhile, April M. Gaño (Dental Assistant) shared her experience as a first-time attendee of the Team Building. She said that the event brought her happiness and new opportunities to learn and socialize with other employees. “Hindi kakayanin ng isang tao, [dapat] laging may katuwang para mas [maging madali] [ang] isang bagay” she said. 

LMMC Employees are looking forward to more challenging, advanced release of rosters, wider venue, and more engaging games in next year’s Team Building. Through this initiative, Lipa Medix Medical Center stays on its Core Values — Family Oriented, Integrity, Competence, Compassion, Customer Focused, Innovativeness, and Excellence. 

Moreover, this Team Building also helped train the Hospital’s personnel to be more dedicated, compassionate, motivated, and competent, staying true to the Institution’s Mission: to provide innovative, quality healthcare and wellness services of international standards through its competent and compassionate professionals. By this, Lipa Medix Medical Center continues to aspire to be the leading provider of healthcare and wellness services in Region IV. 

 

In an Institution like Lipa Medix Medical Center, where healthcare words and jargon fly through the air, camaraderie isn’t something that you won’t simply catch, but Lipa Medix Medical Center continues to find ways to strengthen the bond that connects every member of its workforce, giving a strong definition to what camaraderie is.
